Let’s Chat, Shall We? – Christmas Edition

beauty, inspiration, lifestyle, trends, Uncategorized

So as I am starting to write this piece at 6pm on a Sunday evening, I’m drinking a cup of coffee as I didn’t get to nap today. My bestie who now lives in New York came back home for a visit just yesterday and we spent a few hours hanging out and chatting and eating like gals do when they haven’t seen each other in ages. Otherwise, There’s so much to catch up on, I hardly even know where to start to be honest.

So my last post was my random sporadic post on the introduction of the fall season and some thoughts that were on my mind. Alot has happened since then. And I mean alot. From my personal life to my professional life to the changes I need to make for the upcoming year that is 2019. I’m hoping I can write most of this before 90 day Fiance starts in an hour or so. Yes, you read that right. Don’t judge me.

So I decided to leave my old job and I now work in the financial industry yet again. I honestly thought going back wouldn’t be challenging for me at all as I managed to survive seven whole years in it and when I actually put the work in, I can do it effortlessly. About three days into my training, that old feeling started creeping in again and it really didn’t make me feel good at all. I manage to complete the training but there’s still this lingering feeling of dissatisfaction on my end. Don’t get me wrong, the people I’ve met thus far at this new job have been really personable, accommodating and sweet if I can even say that. It’s just the field I’ve come to despise and I know this now.

Coming to this realization, I know I need to make some changes AGAIN and I really have no regrets doing so. I always remember reading an article that stated that the place you work and the actual work you do shouldn’t be an emotional burden to you because you are at your place of employment for the majority of your days and that is super important. I’m on a mission to find my best job fit and no matter how long it takes I will get there. I know I will.

When to comes to matters of the heart, I don’t really say much here but what I can say is that this year I found myself in an emotional tailspin relationship-wise. I ended a relationship earlier this year with someone I’ve known for quite some time and I’ve managed to meet someone that captures my heart in a way I never knew was possible. What’s weird is that if you had asked me at the beginning of the year if I saw my year end looking like this, I would have probably would have laughed at you so frigging hard. It all came out of left field but I’m embracing every second of it. I don’t know where my new person and I will end up but I do know I’ve taken a slower approach this time around and I am not making myself oblivious to certain red flags as I have in the past. It feels good all around so far so let’s see what happens.

With the new year right around the bend, I’ve decided not to make any resolutions. Every year I make one or two and I never fulfil them entirely. So with that said, I’m just gonna go with the flow and live life as it comes. I hope everyone manages to have a decent Christmas with their loved ones and a happy, blessed and productive 2019.

Until next time. Xoxo.

Fall is here…..Life Update….Random Thoughts

inspiration, lifestyle, Uncategorized

Hello my faithful readers and newbies as well! With the change in season, I’ve had a few changes myself.

I would have had a post up long ago but I decided against posting a piece I wrote in a moment when my thoughts were truly scattered. After a re-read a few days later, I knew it wasn’t post-worthy.

Apart from that hiccup, I’ve been in good spirits ( for the most part).

The darker, warmer months always make me feel more cozy and secure.

I’m celebrating my 30+ tax birthday in a week and I’m usually pretty down but I’m actually looking forward to it. #scorpioseason

I will be going on a mini vacay and I will be taking you all with me 🙂

I made banana pancakes this morning and I’m pretty proud of myself #icantcookatall

Everytime I’m about to give up on the human race, I meet a decent human being.

I’ve been thinking about Europe and traveling alot lately.

Brown liquor is my drink of choice in most social settings.

Always remember…..

Fake it ’til you make it.

Not everyone is going to like you and that’s OKAY.

Do at least one great, memorable thing every year of your life.

Never do anything you don’t love for very long. You will start feeling like a prisoner. Physically and mentally.

Remember the Three P’s : Prayer, Patience & Positivity.

Until next time. Xoxo.

Return of the Mac – #NationalLipstickDay

beauty, fashion, Makeup, style, trends, Uncategorized

Hey loves! While scrolling Instagram in the wee hours, I noticed alot of #NationalLipstickDay posts being featured on my feed  because today is actually that day! Being a lipstick gal myself, I thought it would be fitting to do a feature on my extensive Mac lipstick collection that I own.

I’ve never been  much into the liquid lipsticks and lip stains that have taken over in the last few years as I’ve found that traditional lipsticks work best for me. I can remember years ago, before I started buying my own makeup, I was always fascinated in trying on the lippies my mom wore and had on her dresser top. As I got older, I started buying the Jordana brand at my local pharmacy as to avoid sneaking the ones mom had plus they were super affordable. Don’t sleep on Jordana, as they still have really nice shades on the low low.

IMG_2383

About four years ago while online shopping, I really started noticing the Mac brand. I stalked the website and realized I loved their shades a lot and also the bullet like casing it comes in   ( who doesn’t love that sleek black packaging?) Plus once you see it, you know it’s Mac.

From 2014 since now I’ve managed to grow my collection to a total of 27 shades. I like having a wide variety of colors to choose from at all times as me choosing a particular lipstick for the day or occasion may be dependent on my mood or even the outfit I’m wearing. I’ve listed below each the shades I own and also the different shade group each one belongs to (whether nudes, pinks, reds, etc.) Comment below your favourites or the shades that you are considering trying out for yourself. Until next time. Xoxo.

Throwback to Last Summer

beauty, fashion, inspiration, lifestyle, ootd, style, trends, Uncategorized

While I was going through some pictures on my laptop, I stumbled upon a photo album that was dated Summer 2017. This time last year was bittersweet for me so I cautiously opened it up. As I scrolled the items, I smiled a bit as it brought me back to a place of contentment. If my memory serves me right it was the first outfit post I ever did for my old blog website. I thought I’d share it here in the form of a post. A little throwback don’t hurt anyone right? 🙂 By the way, yes that’s me in the pictures. Yes I had short hair with shaved sides. I’m in the process of growing out my hair now, and I currently wear faux locs (naturalistas will know the struggle). Just thought I’d add that info so when you see a recent post of me, you don’t become entirely confused. Until next time. Xoxo.

Those Winter Days

fashion, lifestyle, style

It pains me to bid farewell to winter. I already live in a warm country and believe me, it is for this exact reason that I cherish the cooler days that come in abundance at this time of year. Typically, I only get to enjoy my sweaters, jumpers, jackets and boots between the months of November and February. This year we were blessed to see the season linger a bit longer as if it were as sad as I was to see it go. In reality, those pieces I own are parked to the back of my closet once I’m in my home country of Jamaica, unless I make a trip to cold New York City, where I’m forced to dig them up so I don’t freeze to death.

Call me crazy, but I love winter. There’s something about warm baths and showers, cool breeze, the occasional downpour of rain, hot cocoa and Netflix while under the covers that always puts me in a good mood. I find that I achieve better sleeping patterns and more sleep overall as well. Winter wear also has a level of snuggly sophistication that I absolutely love. I am able to dress them up or down. I’m more a comfy casual kind of gal. I decided for one last time before I have to bit adieu to my cozy pieces, I wanted to share my favorite pieces I wore more times than I can count on one hand. Comment below your favorites and if you have pieces that are similiar my style! Until next time.

Xoxo.

Japanese Eats At Sora

food, lifestyle, travel

Hey loves! I’ve been under the weather these last few days, but I couldn’t have the week end without putting out some well needed content. I had the pleasure of feasting with friends to indulge in one of my favorite foods: Sushi! The rooftop location was very private ( just the way I like it) and had an awesome view of the hills and surrounding city buildings. If you aren’t an outdoor kinda person, they also have the option of indoor dining. I can honestly say I’ve been a fan of sushi since trying it a few years ago. The food at this restaurant was divine. I know alot of people aren’t fans of the raw foods movement but that why I say it’s always a good idea to try it before you knock it and always educate yourself on things. You just never know. Knowledge is power. Sushi is primarily lots of raw options but there’s also delicious cooked options too. I’ve included some highlights from my night below and you can share your favorites in the comments below. You can also click the following link to see the different types of sushi options there are out there if you are considering visiting your local spot: https://delishably.com/meat-dishes/The-Different-Kinds-of-Sushi

Until next time.

My First Massage

beauty, lifestyle

Hello loves! So I decided that I wanted this year to be one of many firsts, and that includes wellness and health. My sister gifted me a full body massage as a Christmas present last December and I finally decided to make use of it (I think she remembered me saying I’d never gotten one and would love to experience it.) Cassandra’s Day Spa was where I was pampered and needlesstosay, it was awesome. Super relaxing and tranquil. My massage therapist, Maureen, did a fantastic job amidst the fact that I was indeed ticklish to certain parts of my body (I made it through like a champ), and the flowing conversation we had during the session definitely help to calm my nerves. I left way less achy than when I got there and even took a short nap when it was all over.

The location was relatively easy to find, situated in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle and was located approximately 20-25 minutes from where I call home. The actual building was really cute and modernly decorated and had a contemporary interior design. All the pictures can be viewed below. The overall customer service was excellent and I can say I will definitely be booking another session soon. Let me know about your spa experiences by commenting below! Until next time.

xoxo.

On my Grown Woman Ish Vol. 2 : Favorite Scents

beauty, fashion, lifestyle

Hello loves! So as apart of my series, this is an essential element to any woman who needs to  complete her daily routine, and that is her SCENT. This goes hand in hand with appearance. Sight + smell = perfect combination. Now I’m highlighting my favorite scents at the moment, that I find myself throwing on more often than others. You may or may not like my favs and that’s OK. Everyone has different perfumes that they gravitate more towards than others. I’ve chosen two scents for daytime and casual outings and two for nighttime appeal, dressier more formal occasions. All the perfumes discussed I’ve bought in the 3.4oz or 100ml size because I think it’s the perfect size. Not too small to get lost or too big to haul around in my handbag if necessary. They are all affordable and can be found in almost any retail store and online.

Daytime Scents

IMG_6506

FANCY BY JESSICA SIMPSON

So how I found this scent was by sheer accident. I literally was in Sawgrass Mall in Florida on a trip and while in Burlington Coat Factory, I was browsing scents near the checkout line ( they do this so you can buy even more as you are about to leave.) I picked it up and sprayed it a bit amd being a lover of sweet scents, I decided to grab it. It retails for about US $25 – $40 depending on where  it’s purchased. It’s fresh and also sweet and not too overpowering.

IMG_6507

PINK SUGAR BY AQUOLINA

This one was an online purchase for me.  The “sugar” in the title gives it away easily that it is indeed a very sweet and fruity scent, but I love it. If you are on a budget and cannot afford the likes of Prada’s “Candy”, this is almost an identical substitute. What urged me to buy it was based on the reviews I had read online before buying. I liked what I read and proceeded to checkout and I haven’t been disappointed. The scent retails betwen US $15- $20.

Nighttime Scents

IMG_6509

REB’L FLEUR BY RIHANNA

This perfume I bought locally. Being a Rihanna fan, I couldn’t help myself. This was RiRi’s first scent she released seven years ago, and honestly the best one in my opinion. The perfume is the epitome of a nighttime scent and has the staying power to last throughout the night into the morning light. If you even apply enough of it, it will be all over clothes and other belongings. The strength of Eau de Parfum. I bought my first one four years ago and I’m currently on a second bottle. It retails between US $20 – $30.

IMG_6529

BLACK ORCHID BY TOM FORD

This is a classical dark fragrance. Unlike Reb’l Fleur, this scent can appeal to both men and women in my opinion. This was my most recent purchase. I’ve worn it twice and I’ve been asked both times out (by both sexes) what perfume I was wearing because they liked it. This one I also bought online (a risk taker, I know). The reviews there were mixed but I decided based on the description that it was right up my alley. Truth be told, it took a while for the scent to grow on me but now it’s definitely a go-to when I’m hitting the road with my girls for a nightout. It retails in the US $100 price range, but you can get it cheaper if you invest in a smaller size.

I hope you liked my scents as much as I do and please share what are your favorites that I can also try. Until next time. Xoxo.
